On September 23, 2025, Cheng Liwei, President of the China Mining Association (CMA), visited the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China at the invitation of the host, where they held talks with Arziyev Farhod, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to China. The two sides had in-depth discussions on topics including the Uzbekistan delegation’s participation in the 2025 (27th) China Mining Conference and Exhibition, China-Uzbekistan mining cooperation, and enterprise exchange visits.
President Cheng Liwei opened by thanking the Uzbek Embassy in China for its warm reception and shared details about the 2025 (27th) China Mining Conference and Exhibition. Set to take place in Tianjin from October 23 to 25, the Conference is one of the world’s top four mining events and has become a key platform for facilitating efficient collaboration across international mineral resources, technologies, and capital. Its unique value lies in delivering timely insights into global mining trends, cutting-edge technological breakthroughs, and key investment priorities to participants—helping attendees from all countries stay updated on industry developments and refine their growth strategies. This year’s Conference will feature a new session dedicated to mining project promotion and transactions; so far, over 200 high-quality mining projects from more than 20 countries have signed up, paving the way for targeted matchmaking between Chinese and foreign mining initiatives. President Cheng then extended a sincere invitation to Ambassador Arziyev Farhod, encouraging Uzbekistan to take an active part in the event.
President Cheng Liwei noted that Uzbekistan is rich in mineral resources, with unique reserves of strategic minerals such as rare earths, uranium, gold, and copper. Meanwhile, Chinese mining enterprises have built up substantial experience and practical achievements in mining technology R&D, equipment manufacturing, and green development. The two sides are highly complementary in terms of resource endowments and industrial capabilities, offering broad prospects for cooperation. Against this backdrop, the CMA stands ready to fully leverage its role as a bridge and link for the industry, supporting deeper, results-oriented cooperation between the two sides in mineral exploration, development and utilization, and environmental protection technology sharing to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
Ambassador Arziyev Farhod warmly welcomed President Cheng and his delegation, speaking highly of China’s R&D strength, technology application, and investment operations in geological and mining sectors—with special praise for Chinese enterprises’ advanced experience in advancing green exploration and development while protecting the ecological environment. The Ambassador stated that Uzbekistan is currently ramping up efforts to develop its geological and mining industries, having rolled out favorable policies covering investment facilitation and policy support, while continuously improving the business environment for international cooperation to create better conditions for Chinese and foreign enterprises to pursue mining collaboration in Uzbekistan. He expressed hope that the Uzbek delegation will take advantage of the Conference platform to showcase the country’s mineral resources and cooperation potential to the world. He also hoped the CMA would organize a delegation of Chinese mining enterprises to visit Uzbekistan at an appropriate time, enabling them to gain first-hand knowledge of the local mining sector’s development status, resource potential, and investment climate. Uzbekistan, he added, is willing to deepen exchanges with China in mineral exploration and development, technology and equipment application, and talent education and training—drawing on China’s advanced technologies and management models to elevate the overall development level of Uzbekistan’s mining industry.
Relevant staff from the CMA’s International Cooperation Department attended the talks.
