China Mining Association Attends Mongolia's "Miningweek & Minepro 2025"

From September 8 to 14, 2025, a delegation led by Che Changbo, Secretary-General of the China Mining Association (CMA), was invited to attend "Miningweek & Minepro 2025" in Mongolia. As Mongolia's largest and most influential event in the mining sector, this year's "Miningweek & Minepro" designated China as the Focus Country for the first time, building a key platform for deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and Mongolia in the mining field.

 

At the opening ceremony, Secretary-General Che Changbo delivered a speech titled "Broad Prospects for China-Mongolia Mining Cooperation". He pointed out that China and Mongolia, as neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, have seen their relations continue to deepen, and mining cooperation between the two countries is embracing unprecedented development opportunities. The initiatives of green exploration, green mines and ecological restoration advocated by the Chinese government have provided Chinese solutions for the global green transformation of the mining industry. He emphasized that China-Mongolia mining cooperation has four major advantages: similar geological conditions, strong economic complementarity, prominent geographical advantages and low trade costs. China is willing to share technologies and experience with Mongolia to promote all-round cooperation between the two sides. He expressed confidence that with the joint efforts of the two governments and enterprises, China-Mongolia mining cooperation will achieve steady and long-term development, inject strong impetus into the economic development of both countries and bring more benefits to the people of both nations. Meanwhile, he sincerely invited all parties to attend the 2025 the 27th China Mining Conference and Exhibition to be held in Tianjin, China, this October.

 

As the Focus Country, the CMA hosted a special promotion conference themed "China's Investment in the Extractive Industry – Driving Growth and Forging Partnerships". H.E. Shen Minjuan, Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia; H.E. Damdinnyam Gongor, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia; Mr. Kang Dequan, Vice President of the General Chamber of Commerce of China in Mongolia and Chairman of the Mining and Energy Branch; and Che Changbo, Secretary-General of the CMA, delivered speeches respectively, expressing confidence in and support for China-Mongolia mining investment cooperation from multiple perspectives. Enterprises including Huawei Digital Energy Technologies Co., Ltd., Shandong Xinhai Mining Technology & Equipment Co., Ltd., PetroChina Daqing Tamsag Oilfield Branch, Southgobi Sands LLC, Beijing Taku Mining Technology Co., Ltd., and China Metallurgical Geology Bureau shared their business operations and achievements in investment in Mongolia, conducting in-depth communication and exchanges to deepen cooperation between the two countries in the mining sector.

 

Prior to the event, the delegation led by Secretary-General Che Changbo carried out a series of exchange activities: they paid a visit to the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia, visited the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia and the Mongolia Mining Association as invited, and presented H.E. Damdinnyam Gongor with an invitation letter for the 2025 the 27th China Mining Conference and Exhibition signed by Guan Zhi'ou, Minister of Natural Resources of China, which the Mongolian side happily accepted. During "Miningweek & Minepro 2025", Secretary-General Che Changbo held in-depth discussions with leaders of Mongolia's Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the Mongolia Mining Association, exploring ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and deepen mining cooperation between the two countries. Meanwhile, he visited the exhibition hall together with H.E. Shen Minjuan and H.E. Damdinnyam Gongor to tour the booths of Chinese enterprises such as CRRC Corporation Limited and Huawei Digital Energy Technologies Co., Ltd. In addition, Secretary-General Che Changbo, H.E. Damdinnyam Gongor and B. Zorigtbayar, Governor of Orkhon Province, jointly attended a seminar on "Mining Sustainability and Responsibility" held at the Erdenet Copper Mine. During their stay in Mongolia, the CMA also visited the General Chamber of Commerce of China in Mongolia and enterprises including PetroChina Daqing Tamsag Oilfield Branch, Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. Mongolia Branch, Huawei Digital Energy Technologies Co., Ltd., Mongolia Zhengyuan Co., Ltd., Southgobi Sands LLC, Beijing Taku Mining Technology Co., Ltd. and China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. Through on-site investigations, they gained an understanding of the enterprises' operation status and cooperation needs.

 

During the event, Secretary-General Che Changbo was interviewed by Chinese and foreign media outlets such as People's Daily, China Media Group and Mongolian Mining Journal, conveying positive signals about China-Mongolia mining cooperation.

 

Zhao Kuitao and Tao Mingju, Deputy Secretaries-General of the CMA, and relevant staff from the International Cooperation Department participated in the event.
